Scott Cotter serves as Chief Financial Officer of S.A.F.E. Management, where he works closely with the leadership and operations teams and ownership group to bring the financial discipline an expanding business depends on. He helps align the organization around a common set of goals and KPIs, guides where the company invests, and builds the systems and teams needed to scale alongside the business.
He joined S.A.F.E. after serving as Chief Financial Officer and Head of Shared Services at Unrivaled Sports, a platform of premium youth sports and entertainment brands, where he helped build the company into a national organization. He drove substantial multi-year revenue growth, stood up the finance, technology, and shared services infrastructure behind a growing portfolio of operating businesses and a nationwide workforce, and led an active acquisition program from diligence and negotiation through integration. He also partnered with ownership and the executive team on growth strategy and capital allocation.
Scott has spent his career at the intersection of entrepreneurship and finance. Before Unrivaled Sports, he served as Chief Financial Officer and Head of Corporate Services at Bullpen Strategy Group, where he led the integration of CMAdvisors, the advisory firm he co-founded in 2016, ran the firm’s finance and accounting advisory practice, and directed Bullpen’s merger with GP3 Partners and the investment that followed.
Across his career, Scott has led investor relations through private equity, debt, and family office financings, and implemented the ERP systems and enterprise-wide performance reporting those companies needed as they scaled.
Scott served eight years in the United States Marine Corps Reserves and holds an MBA and a B.S. in Accounting from the University of Baltimore, where he later chaired the Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation.
Sports have been a big part of Scott’s life since childhood. He grew up in Ellicott City, Maryland, playing baseball and football, and has been an avid Orioles and Ravens fan for as long as he can remember. Now a resident of the DC Metro area, he and his family enjoy getting out to games as often as possible.
